Asite has been chosen to provide cloud services under the UK government's G-Cloud 7 framework. Asite has previously been selected under frameworks 5 & 6 and now through 7, this means that public sector organisations will be able to procure Asite from the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) category of G-Cloud.

Asite are pleased to announce their acceptance and involvement in the United Kingdom’s Crown Commercial Service’s G-Cloud 7 Programme. This acknowledgement and approval into the Cross- government initiative highlights Asite’s reputation for delivering a robust collaborative platform for existing and new Government clients.

G-Cloud is a government initiative that aims to provide a single repository of cloud-based IT services for use by public sector organisations, through Digital Marketplace – an online store for cloud IT services. The move is designed to drive the wider adoption of cloud computing in the public sector and deliver a more efficient, competitive and cost-effective way of buying IT services.

Purchases through the cloud should be the first option considered by public sector buyers of IT products and services, the government has confirmed today.

The formal introduction of a ‘Cloud First’ policy will drive wider adoption of cloud computing in the public sector, boosting business – and furthering savings and efficiencies – through the government Digital Marketplace, which is a quicker, cheaper and more competitive way for the public sector to buy IT, Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, said.

In future, when procuring new or existing services, public sector organisations should consider and fully evaluate potential cloud solutions first – before they consider any other option. This approach is mandated to central government and strongly recommended to the wider public sector. Departments will remain free to choose an alternative to the cloud if they can demonstrate that it offers better value for money.

Tony Ryan, Asite CEO, remarked “Our appointment to the G-Cloud framework builds on our long-standing relationships providing project collaboration services in the cloud to UK government. Together with our longstanding commitment to supporting the government’s Construction Strategy and in particular the achievement of Level 2 BIM with our cBIM service, we are fully committed to the improvement of procurement in UK construction”.
