Asite Solutions Ltd, provider of software and services to support project management and procurement, has won the contract to deliver a website and central document store to the DTI-sponsored Avanti programme. The work undertaken by Asite will facilitate Avanti to achieve its core objective of improving project and business performance through the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to support collaborative working.
The central document store developed by Asite will provide Avanti-sponsored project teams with the programme's tool-kit, including guidelines and procedures to implement best practice collaborative methods of working. In this way project teams will be able to easily access the information they need to implement project processes, no matter where the project is based.
Over the next five years, Avanti will support live construction project teams in adopting integrated, collaborative working using tools and techniques that are already available, but not yet widely adopted. This objective will be achieved by providing a standard method of data exchange and information management between team members, and access to experts who can advise on method implementation. The programme will help put in place best practice procedures in design management and provide guidance on the use of software and information standards.
Sir John Egan, chairman, Asite plc, says, "Asite is delighted to have been chosen to support the Avanti programme which shares many of our key objectives. At the core of Asite's philosophy is its commitment to furthering the development of collaborative technologies so that all members of the construction team can access the same consistent set of data. We have a strong appreciation of the need for collaborative working to reflect the right process to achieve the highest quality of production information. In this way, we can help realise a reduction in costly rework and ensure real cost savings on construction projects."
Peter Rogers, Non-executive Director, Asite plc, says, "The introduction of the Avanti initiative, that promises to play a key role in integrating design and project teams, is most welcome." The Avanti programme was launched on 24th March, at Grosvenor's 25 Moorgate building, with a keynote speech by Ray O'Rourke, Chairman, Laing O'Rourke.
